FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE

Goodmorning Ladies and Gents, I thought I would take a moment and deviate from my selfish blogging to see how you are doing. How are you this fine rainy day hmmmm? Did you watch American Idol yesterday hmmmmm? Were you sick with a bacterial infection in your throat and had to stay home yesterday and watch ridiculously funny episodes of Psych hmmmmmmm? Well I did.
The above picture is a sheet from my sketchbook. I'm practicing and working through my own insecurities.

IF I HAD A DOLLAR FOR EVERYTIME SOMEONE SAID THAT TO ME...
Goodmorning everyone. This is just a general update. Last night Paige and I went to our Community Group and it was amazing. The people there are fantastic. What we discussed was what a Community Group is and its function. And here is what we summized.
A Community Group is a culmination of relationships, God's Word, and Mission. We as a group pray for each other and discuss how our lives can incoporate God's Word. We spur each other towards good works. As we discuss these things and take in the spiritual lessons we then are challenged to see others the way God see's them.
We talked a great deal about how when the gospel of Jesus is active in our lives we see the need for God's forgiveness in our own lives, then we see that need in others lives. People (everyone) needs salvation through Jesus and the hope of eternity. When we don't have that we are consumed out our own vices and the pain from this world is daunting. We, our Community Group, is there to meet that need and share the message of Jesus. The people in my group our beautiful people, and I am very thankful for all of them.
On another note Paige and I are almost fully caught up with "Lost." The show is great and I would recommed it to anyone.
I'll have some of my sketchbook drawings posted later this week.

DON'T HATE THE PLAYER HATE THE GAME
Hello. It is good to be free from my own commitment. This past month has been relaxing but twisted. It seems that this is a new era in my life and God decided to speak to me. I love it when God speaks but he is asking for a lot; my whole life. I mean everything. He's letting me hold on to some stuff, but even then I'm supposed to consider it all loss. Dude.
Seriously, this month has been very exciting. Paige and I are enjoying the smack out of our community group from Church, and are consistantly challenged spiritually through it. For the first part of my month I read comics (a butt ton) and played Final Fantasy 10. That's when God stepped in. He has really given me a direction to focus in now. I am up and ready to share my artistic talent with the church I attend through projects and designs. I am perfectly content with working at a utility company for a while to accomplish my future goals. And now that I am not so focused on myself I can attest to John 10:10. This life is meant to be lived to the full and that means discipline, love, pain, dependence, hope, energy, people, and like my friend Matt Gallion put it relationships.

HALT
In the month of January I am not drawing anything. I'm taking a step back and looking the next phase of my life and seeing where I want to venture. Also, it is the first break I have had from Church projects, school projects, personal projects I have had since High School; and it feels nice. Recently though, Paige and I have been hanging out with a lot of our friends. The problem is none of these people hang out with each other. They are all from different walks of life, which is great, but that means we have to plan separate nights to spend with people. Stay tuned for updates in Feb.

HOLY MOLELY
It's all over folks. This kid is no longer matriculating. The day of Graduation seemed like any other day to me at first. When I started telling people I work with that I was graduating that day I received hugs and handshakes from everyone. Then it finally hit me that this was a pretty important day and high acheivement.
The Ceremony didn't take too long and it was fun joking with the Design kids before and after. Then I ate dinner with my family and God family which is always a hilarious time of joking and sharing stories. And then they gave me my graduation gift. It was amazing. They gave me the entire Ghostbuster cartoon collection on DVD in this sweet firehouse box. Literally, I can not think of a better gift to an ex-obsessed Ghostbuster fan. I only say ex because most of my Ghostbuster toys are lost or broken, and I don't have the time to devote to creating sweet ghoulish Ghostbuster senerios anymore. I'll post some old pictures of me in my Ghostbuster jumpsuit.
After that Paige and I watched "Lost" with another couple. We are almost through Season 2 now; very exciting.
THEN, Paige and I met up with another friend to watch "Hook" at the Palace. The movie is great, but what made it even more funny was the over-weight man snoring during all the quiet parts. He would wake up during the fight scenes, but as soon as the volume came down, and the actors were talking in serious tones it was like, "Que the snoring." Everytime. At the end of the movie the whole theater was cracking up over this guy's habitual snoring. I would have said something since I happened to be the closest to him, but he keeped making me laugh.
Saturday was the annual White Elephant gift exchange with my family. This has become a very competitive fun game for us. In fact, it's an art. Our Grandmother always hids a $20.00 bill in an indiscrimant object, while other put in good gifts and duds. Not to mention we have two reacurring gifts that come back every year. One is a ceramic pig and another fairly recent one is this softcore video. The video was hidden within a "Batman: The Dark Knight" DVD case which Paige ended up with. What a huge letdown. Getting your hopes up to getting the sweetest movie of the year only to find out it's 80's porn.
Sunday was also amazing. Paige and ate dinner with a friend I met this semester in my Team Sports class. We met a larger group to see "Seven Pounds." The movie was great and it turns out one of the larger group of people was an old close friend of mine I haven't seen in a year or so. Suffice to say this weeked was awesome, completely blessed by God.

THE END OF AN ERA
The night I have longed for several times through my college career, the last night of project making. I'm putting the fine tunes on my comic book projects to turn in tomorrow for my LAST FINAL EVER. Well, I'm sure it's not ever. I'll probably go back to school later because I really enjoy school and expanding my brain.
I graduate on Friday and it is weird.

PAST MEMORIES AND NEW INSIGHT

Hello all. first, the quick ink drawing I did was to loosen up my tight style. I have a feeling I have a lot more work to do to do that.
Second, I've had a great week. I had the chance to connect and catch up with an old friend. His name is Victor and he is the bomb. He's the most loving individual you will ever met.
Also, something very exciting has happened. My cousin the famous Las Vegas lounge singer Chance Thompson is selling a personalized, autographed photo of himself on e-bay. I believe the funds are going to a charity for Christmas. So check him out at this LINK.

"LET IT RAIN!"

First, and foremost, I am trying to keep a consistant blog now by posting past work and current projects. I originally set up this blog to document my quest of drawing everyday during the summer.
The works I am posting today I did sometime ago in my Design 250, a.k.a. Self-Portrait class. And yes, I do think of myself as a lion. This is the class where I fell in love with scratchboard and pen and ink. Incidentally, the two mediums I hated the most in High School. There's some pastel work and colored pencil, but the fav for me is pen and ink.
Last night my girlfriend, mother, foreign exchange student, and I went to see The Hughes Family perform Christmas songs at the local Mormon Church last night. No one from my group is Mormon, but Paige's family is. They were fantastic. It's a family of five (only four were there) and it was angelic. Also, we heard SIX perform the day before and they were amazing too.
Who out there has odd family traditions? Send me a comment. I want to see if your family is as weird as mine.

"MY ABSENCE DOTH NEGLECT NO GREAT DESIGN"

Merry Christmas all. Well, tonight was my family's annual Christmas ornament hanging time. The cutie is my girlfriend the one and only Elizabeth Paige B. The blonde is my Sis who is a Graphic Designer. The dude is her husband who I caught with an old, confused man look on his face.
The other picture is a Lithograph I just finished in my printmaking class. Lithography is a pretty sweet medium. It's messy, but sweet. The drawing is not of my own concoction. The artist who drew it is Rafael Grampa. The man is a visual genius in my opinion.
Congratulations to my friend Matt Gallion and his new wife Hillary. Sorry I could not be there to celebrate with you guys. Goodnight.
